Welcome to Witney Music Society

Each year Witney Music Society organises a winter programme of six live classical music concerts on the second Friday of each month from October to March. They are held at either Wood Green School or Witney Methodist Church, both venues offering easy access and a welcoming environment. The relatively small size of the venues means that the audience is close to the performers, so the experience is very vivid and the sound first class.
The Society’s performers are mainly young musicians who have won significant awards and are becoming firmly established. Their enthusiasm is infectious, and they often talk about the pieces they are performing, and in some cases about the instruments they play.
The atmosphere is friendly and informal, and audiences enjoy coffee and a chat with friends during the interval.
The Society is keen for its concerts to be as accessible as possible to all. Wheelchair access and disabled toilets are available at both venues.
Both venues also have excellent free car parking, Wood Green in the adjacent school car park, and, for the Methodist Church, the rear of Waitrose car park has plenty of spaces in the evening. For those with walking difficulties, drop off and pick up at the doors of both venues is possible.

Concerts start at 7.30pm, and finish at about 9.30 to 10pm.

Buying a season ticket for the full six concerts gives a substantial saving over buying separate tickets for each.

Tickets for each concert are available from 7pm on the day at the venue, or in advance from Music Stand in High Street or Greenway Antiques in Corn Street, Witney.

Witney Music Society is appreciative of the financial support and encouragement which it receives from West Oxfordshire District Council, Witney Town Council, from the advertisers in our brochure and for individual concerts, from Making Music, The Countess of Munster Musical Trust and The Haverhill Sinfonia Soloist Competition. This, together with a flourishing membership, enables us to offer performances of a very high standard.

The Society has over the years also received grants from the Witney Educational Foundation, which allow us to arrange concerts for schools within the Witney area.
