Welcome to Witney Music Society

WMS is a long-established charity which organises a winter programme of live classical music concerts every year from October to March. Attracting audiences of up to 120 people, the venues of Wood Green School Concert Hall, or Witney Methodist Church offer easily accessible music evenings in a friendly and welcoming environment. We usually have young, lively performers who are award winners and established in their careers. Their enthusiasm is infectious, and they often take time to explain what they perform and in some cases the instruments they play. The relatively small venues mean the audience is close to the performers, so the experience is very vivid and the sound first class.

Concerts cover a wide range of composers and instruments, and the programme mix is varied each season to provide a wide choice of concerts. The costs of the performers are covered by a combination of subscriptions, at the door tickets and grants.

Buying a season ticket for the full six concerts gives a substantial saving over buying separate tickets for each.

Membership Subscription offers:
Free admission to all six concerts listed in the current programme.
Priority booking for the annual ‘Proms’ trip to the Royal Albert Hall any other special events.
£2 off tickets for the Lenthall Concerts in Burford on presentation of your membership card.

The audience is friendly and light refreshments are served in the interval, so there is an opportunity to meet new friends. Both venues have excellent free car parking: Wood Green in the adjacent school car park, and for the Methodist Church the rear Waitrose car park has plenty of spaces in the evening. Concerts start at 7.30pm, and finish at about 9.30 to 10 pm.

A wonderful opportunity to hear first class classical music right on your doorstep; you will be inspired!

Witney Town Council

Witney Music Society is appreciative of the financial support and  encouragement which it receives from West Oxfordshire District Council, Witney Town Council, from the advertisers in our brochure and for individual concerts, from Making Music, and from The Countess of Munster Musical Trust. This, together with a flourishing membership, enables us to offer performances of a very high standard.

The Society has over the years also received grants from the Witney Educational Foundation, which allow us to arrange concerts for schools within the Witney area.
